Juliana and I talked to our Italian partner Mary twice.
The first time, we talked about the city of Bologna, her house, her family and pets, her job, and her car. She told us about the night life in Bologna, and we talked about our families in New York and Virginia. We told her about Dickinson and what a residential college is like.
The second time we talked was right after Halloween. We talked about Halloween, and what all three of us had done that weekend. Then we talked about her school some more. Finally we talked about food. She told us what she eats for breakfast, lunch and dinner. She told us who cooks in her family and with whom she eats.
On the whole, I found the experience fairly frustrating. She rarely responded to our emails and so we ended up just trying to call her when we could. We tried calling 3 other times when we received no answer. Also, I sent her 2 very long emails (I posted them too) about the American school system, and then one about the Holiday of Thanksgiving and a recap of my favorite Thanksgiving story, to which she didn’t respond.
