As a requirement for my religion class, I visited the Asbell Center this past Friday evening for a religious service. Although it was not my first encounter with Judiasm, I have been to many bar/bat mitzvahs and have been to a Jewish funeral service, I found that I was a little nervous and awkward. Most of the service was in Hebrew and I believe that they were reading from some scriptures. To my surprise, the service was casual and everyone involved, Hillel students I believe, were extremely welcoming. I enjoyed my experience at the Asbell Center as it was something new and different for me. My father is Italian and my mother is Persian. As a result, I have been fortunate enough to be exposed to both their religions: Catholicism and Islam. From my visit to the Asbell Center, I was able to see a different religious service being performed. I look forward to my second experience.
