Dickinson College Farm to Host Third Annual “Art on the Farm” Event
(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College Farm, located at 553 Park Drive in Boiling Springs, will host the Third Annual “Art on the Farm” event on Sunday, Sept. 22 starting at 3 p.m. This unique En Plein Air event raises funds and awareness for two local initiatives that support sustainable food systems and celebrate the arts in the region: the Carlisle Arts Learner Center (CALC) and the Pennsylvania Association of Sustainable Agriculture (PASA).
The public is invited to explore the Dickinson College farm fields, enjoy live performance art and watch as local artists create 3- & 2-D pieces while learning about sustainable land-management practices. Locally crafted artwork that reflects the region’s resources will be auctioned off in both live and silent auctions. The event also includes a dinner menu featuring locally sourced ingredients, wines and craft beer.
Tickets are $40 per person. All proceeds go to the CALC and PASA. For more information, visit http://blogs./dickinson.edu/artonthefarm. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling CALC at 717-249-6973. To purchase tickets online, visit http://carlislearts.org/events/tickets/art-on-the-farm.
The Dickinson College Farm is a 50-acre living laboratory that is USDA Certified Organic. Located just six miles from campus, the farm has more than 15 acres of vegetable production ground and 18 acres of animal pasture. The farm supports the academic interests of students and faculty, promotes renewable energy through solar applications and builds a greater awareness about how food is generated using techniques that help sustain natural ecosystems.
