Biographical Information:

Mrs. Laurie Butler was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  While growing up there, she attended integrated schools, and does not recall encountering racism before her family moved to Clarksdale, Mississippi.  She now works as a certified nurse’s assistant.

Interview Information:

Mrs. Butler discusses health and healthcare in Coahoma County.  She contrasts racism in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with Coahoma County, Mississippi.  She details her use of music as a coping mechanism with some of her patients, as well as her negative opinion of the Mississippi state flag.
