Shaffer Park
Shaffer Park is 18 acres of land located in Carlisle, PA where it is sandwiched between Spring Road and the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The park is commonly known for its dog park that is run by the Carlisle Area Dog Park Association. A cabin is also located on the premises, which is available to rented out as a place for group meetings. Picnic tables are located behind the cabin, and are available to be used at any time.

Lindner Park officially became a park on October 17, 1910 with the unveiling of a donated war cannon. It was created by John Lindner, the head of the successful “Lindner Shoe Company” in Carlisle. Originally designed to be a recreational park, Lindner park today is a popular 2-acre leisure location for the neighboring people of residential Carlisle. It is located at E Park St, Carlisle, PA 17013.

Welcome to the Butcher Family Tot Lot! According to the property deed, the lot contains .522 acres originally owned by Alice Butcher. At the time of Butcher’s death in 1963, the lot fell into the hands of Farmer’s Trust Company in Carlisle who then sold it to the Borough of Carlisle for $1,500. Since then, the lot has been transformed into a park with a playground for children; and includes a wayside marker, solidifying its importance in Carlisle town history. Biddle Mission Park is a 5-acre park located on 311 E. North Street in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The park includes a playground, a basketball court, charcoal grills, a spray pool, and many other recreational facilities. The LeTort Stream, which is accessible throughout Carlisle, runs alongside Biddle Mission Park. There are also 6 picnic tables. The Recreation Office, located on 415 Franklin Street, can be contacted at (717) 243-3318 if you are interested in renting or using any facilities at Biddle Mission Park.
Adopt-a-Park: There are currently 12 parks in the Carlisle Borough that are adopted by all different organizations who help keep the parks clean. Created in 1974, Memorial Park is a 2-acre park in Carlisle, Pennsylvania (149 West Penn Street) that offers both passive and active recreation sites. It also is home to Hope Station, a community center that seeks to empower children to become active leaders.

Thornwald Park is a 32-acre park located in South Carlisle, on Walnut Bottom Road. The large Mansion sitting at its center, not officially a part of the park, was built in 1909, and today hosts a bed and breakfast. The park itself has large grass areas and pathways in between the trees. Carlisle residents come to Thornwald to enjoy a walk, have a picnic or simply to find some green spaces close to the city center.
