DCCM Updates Week of 2/21/2021

Saturday, February 20, 2021

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We have now entered into our yearly celebration of Lent. This year’s Lent looks quite different due to COVID-19, but we still hope that this Lent will be a spiritually enriching experience for everyone.

Ash Wednesday – February 17, 2021

Ash Wednesday marked the first time that we were able to hold an in-person event on campus in almost a year. Students joined us for a Mass on Zoom at 9:00 A.M. and a prayer service on Zoom with the blessing of ashes at 5:00 P.M. Then, from 6:00 to 6:45 P.M., we opened up the HUB Social Hall for people to come and receive the blessed ashes. Through these ashes, we are reminded of the call to enter more deeply into a life of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving during the Lenten season.

As we enter into Lent, here are a few opportunities to encounter the Lord through prayer:

Sunday Mass on Zoom, Sunday at 3:00 P.M.

Join us as a DCCM community as we participate in Sunday Mass from St. Patrick’s in Carlisle together.

DCCM Rosary, Tuesdays at 8:00 P.M. on Zoom

Join us as we pray the rosary every Tuesday at 8:00 P.M. Anyone is welcome to join us this week or any other week during the semester.

DCCM Bible Study, Wednesdays at 5:00 P.M. on Zoom

Join DCCM for a student-led bible study on Wednesdays at 5:00 P.M. EST on Zoom. The passage will be provided; no prior bible study experience necessary.

Stations of the Cross, Friday at 7:00 P.M.
Join us for the traditional Lenten practice of praying the Stations of the Cross on Friday at 7:00 P.M., screen-shared on Zoom from St. Patrick’s Church in Carlisle
Soup and Scripture, Fridays at 12:00 P.M. Noon During Lent

St. Patrick’s Parish in Carlisle is hosting a weekly series called “Soup in Scripture.” This is an opportunity to study scripture from clergy and seminarians at St. Patrick’s, and all Dickinson students are welcome to participate. See the flier below for more info.

Morning Prayer

Please note that there will be no morning prayer during Lent. Instead, students are encouraged to join for Stations of the Cross at 7:00 P.M.

If you would like the Zoom info for any of our events, please message us on one of our social media pages or email us at catholic@dickinson.edu.

There are also several opportunities to become more involved in the leadership of DCCM:

Applications for our leadership team are still open! We are especially looking for people to fill the position of liturgical coordinator, which deals with scheduling and arranging liturgical ministers (altar servers, sacristans, etc.) for Mass. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis; use the link to apply: https://forms.gle/DcqysF7gRkoMUk189
DCCM Executive Team
Applications to become a member of our executive team are now open. The executive team is comprised of the president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer of DCCM. Please us this form to learn more about the exec team and apply:
If there are any questions regarding our events, applications, or anything else related to the Catholic Church, feel free to reach out to us via email or social media! We look forward to journeying with everyone this Lent!
God Bless,
