What is Institutional Research?

Institutional Research (IR) is all internal data about an institution. Dickinson’s Office of Institutional Research handles data concerning students, staff, administration, faculty, and alumni. We build prediction models for the incoming class. We assist students and faculty with research projects. We manage all campus surveys. We work collaboratively with various departments to make sense of the data that exist and collect new information when needed.

Many things are happening in the world of data, but rarely do discussions breach the walls of Old West. The purpose of this blog is to discuss these happenings and our findings in the Office of Institutional Research. We will be posting blogs monthly (if not more often) about a particular topic in institutional research.
