Unibo Feedback (Student 03)

At Unibo, I took a literature and media course that covered topics such as how literature is changing as a consequence of the digital age, how literature and media function as separate genres vs. how literature may also function as a form of media, adaptations of books to other entertainment models (such as film), and critical theory on dystopia and utopia.  I loved this class as an opportunity to study literature and media from an Italian perspective, as it complimented and diversified my perspective as an English major.  The professor was very understanding of my position as a foreign student with Italian as a second language, and always made herself available to talk after class if need be.  Once a week, I attended supplementary tutoring sessions (USP) along with two other Dickinson students in the class.  The professor who lead the sessions was incredibly helpful in this regard: he always approached the lesson by first gauging what elements from the previous lecture we had understood, then he would clarify other points from the lecture, and then we would discuss the readings for the course.  Towards the end of the semester, we devoted a great deal of time practicing for the exam and discussing how to best study in preparation for the exam.  I enjoyed working with the USP professor, and feel that all of the work we did with him led to my confidence and success in the final exam.
