Locking Your Bike

Locking Your Bike: On and Off Campus

If you are worried about your bike being stolen and want to make sure you are locking it correctly, you may find some helpful tips here for using a U-lock. If you are using a cable lock, remember to lock at least your frame and front wheel. Cable locks are not as strong as U-locks, but they are better than nothing and can provide decent protection to your bike on campus.

When locking up, please use the bike racks on campus! Please do not lock your bike to railings, posts, signs, or buildings. It is especially important that all emergency exits are bike-free. If your bike is locked in an emergency exit path, you risk bike removal by DPS.

If you have suggestions, comments, or questions about bike racks on campus, feel free to check in with CSE at biking@dickinson.edu.
