Farm intern Alex Smith checks on the laying chickens at the Dickinson College Farm.Jenn Halpin spotted an open patch of soil at her tightly planted farm that was big enough for one last crop of trophy garlic.

The farmhands had finished morning harvesting. Bunches of carrots, turnips, Daikon radishes, lettuce, cabbage and herbs lay in mounds, ready for packing.
