Alumni Spotlight: Nicole Smith ’16

nicole

Nicole Smith is a farm worker with a passion for animals. Above she is pictured at her internship with Utica Zoo from the summer of 2015, where she was responsible for the care of all the hoofstock, including her favorites, the goats! While working with the farm, her favorite thing about it was the serenity of it. She says “the farm has a way of whisking away all the stress and worry of life and class. It just puts me in the most amazing mood when I’m out there.”

As you can probably guess, her favorite farm chore was taking care of the livestock. She loved hanging out and working with the cows. She loves their curiosity and their large, expressive eyes. She loved helping out putting in ween rings and bandaging up sore hooves.

Her plans for after graduation are to look for zoo and animal rehabilitation careers. She is looking forward to helping enrich and better the lives of zoo animals as well as helping to save the lives of endangered species. At Dickinson Nicole was a Psychology major and hopes to apply her knowledge of animal psychology to her future career.
