Miyazaki the Walt Disney of anime?

Is he really? The name of this article seems to suggest so. I was intrigued by Spirited Away when we watched it a couple weeks back, and so I decided to watch Princess Mononoke as well (loved it) and now I’m thinking of moving on to “Howl’s Moving Castle”. I heard that one’s really good too, what do you all think?

Comic Convention in New York

From the looks of it, this beats Halloween by far…

Lost in Translation?

So here you go, my comic response to the most mind-blowing comic we’ve read so far – “The Arrival”. Looks like it was the most popular comic this time too.

I’m parodying the lack of speech in the book, and trying to copy Tan’s art style..while putting in a little of my own as well. Too bad scanners make drawings look so terrible..

Jamaranian Religion

This is my comic which lightly touches on Marjane’s Satrapi’s “Persepolis”, while being related with my own past experiences with religion.

And yes, despite what media may portray, Christianity is in fact the prevalent religion in Jamaica, not Rastafarianism!

Stuck In Fear – Tesha’s Comic

This is what I was referring to when I babbled in the class introduction of myself. Basically I’ve lived my whole life according to my fears – I would withdraw whenever something frightened me and then run away. For example, I was so scared of sleep paralysis (the name of the condition described in the comic) I would stay up all night just to avoid it. Thanks to a friend though, I’m slowly learning to get over this problem with fears…

As to how it relates to my graphic narrative (the LIFE manga series), I drew this comic around the themes of fear and isolation which are also prevalent in LIFE.

Obviously the comic isn’t done, but I didn’t think we could go over one page so I left it at that. (Click the image to view it at full size.)
