Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover

May 2, 2013 in Comic Response #4: Literary Analysis

The depth of the conversation regarding the cover of the book sparked my interest into the connection between the interpretation of the cover and Ben’s own struggle to see past the surface of the women with whom he is involved. The analysis took a turn into the possible investigation of how deeply he views himself considering how shallow he is when he looks at, talks about and even interacts women. Does he see himself and the other women as real people with depth or is he just fixated on the fact that he is an Asian American man with an Asian American woman and he is getting bored?
