What is an Eco-Rep?: An Eco-Rep is a sustainability representative and mentor for a residence hall that educates his or her peers about sustainable living habits. They create and manage programming in the residence halls around issues and ideas of sustainability, and work to foster a more sustainable community. There are many other Eco-Rep programs across the country at several top liberal arts schools.
What will the Eco-Re: EcoReps have access to a programming budget for creating new projects, improvements, and programs in the residence halls, the ability to advance their own education about sustainability, and direct connection to the sustainability staff on campus. EcoReps must commit 2-3 hrs per week and complete at least one volunteer semester before becoming eligible for compensation. EcoReps are given first priority for paidSustainability Internships in the Center for Sustainability Education. EcoReps must be able to return to campus for training and leadership development beginning August 21st, 2011.
