Born in the Huarpe community, Deolinda is proud of Huarpe roots. She is an artisan of wool and leather and a friend of Diego Barros, like many in the community. Her house is situated on the corner near the entrance of the community. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather while her dogs and chickens wandered freely about the yard. Deolinda organizes women from various Huarpe communities to go to a national women’s march; she was inspired by a personal connection to gender violence in her family. She elaborated passionately about the community that is formed among the women through the march.

“Si no llueve no tenemos agua.”

“If it does not rain, we do not have water.”
