Video on Distribution of Wealth

I found this video and attached article about the distribution of wealth interesting in that it broke down the population to 100 individuals to demonstrate the ideal, understanding, and reality. By doing so, the economic state of America was displayed in a unique way. Although no plan was created to fix this issue, it serves as an education tool to demonstrate the misconception about the wealth distributed in the United States.

I liked this video a lot because it truly opens your eyes to how our economy operates in terms of wealth distribution. The average American, being aware that our system doesn’t work created “the ideal” for these charts, and that “ideal” was so vastly different from how the money actually is distributed in this country. If 40% of the money is America is held by the top 1%, I think it’s time to readjust our “ideal”.

I agree that this is a well created video highlighting how far the reality of income distribution in America differs from people’s understanding. Even though the video does not suggestion any policy recommendations it (implicitly) makes the important point that most people are voting and forming their views about policies based on an erroneous understanding of income distribution.
