The goals of the iPad program are to:

• assess the viability of tablet technology for use in the classroom
•  identify positive and negative impacts of mobile technology on teaching and learning

Potential features of the iPad that will be explored include:

• ability for students to have immediate, searchable access to all their course materials in one lightweight device and to navigate them quickly and easily
• ability for students to record lectures and take notes on the same device
• ability for students to highlight and annotate texts
• ability for professors to poll students and get instant feedback
• a reduction in the use of paper
• impact of iPad-based course materials on comprehension and classroom discussion
