Students in Prof. Savenkova’s course on Russian Phonetics participated in an evening of Russian poetry. Each student selected a poem by a well-known poet and practiced reciting it with proper Russian phonetics and intonation, as well as researched the meaning of the poem and the biography of its author. Students and faculty enjoyed Russian snacks and tea from the samovar, and afterwards the group talked about the phonetics rules that are especially challenging for each of them.
