Eco-Friendly Paper Books

The Big Read

Margaret Atwood will be giving the keynote address at The Center For Fiction’s month-long series, “The Big Read: A Wizard of Earthsea.” The keynote event is on Wednesday, October 21st in New York City, and the entire Big Read celebration begins this upcoming Monday!

If you’re a fan of fiction (particularly science fiction and fantasy), be sure to attend one of the events.

Sirena Poets coming to Dickinson College

This year is a big year for Sirena. We are currently in the midst of preparing our latest issue for publication, and we are in a unique position to welcome four Sirena poets to Dickinson College!

Noel Luna, Víctor Casaus, and Eduardo Jordá will be arriving in a little over a month for Dickinson’s annual Semana Poética. Noel Luna will be a part of the opening reception and ceremony on Sunday, October 23rd, Eduardo Jordá will speak on October 25th, and Víctor Casaus will present the following day. We will also have Margaret Atwood visiting this semester! Margaret is the 2011 recipient of The Harold and Ethel L. Stellfox Visiting Scholars and Writers Program award. The Poetry Society of America

Today The Poetry Society of America celebrates 100 years of existence. There will be a reading and celebration this evening at Cooper Union in New York. No less than five poets laureate will participate in the reading. Actress Maria Tucci will perform Robert Frost’s “A Servant to Servants.”

Welcome! Bienvenidos!

Welcome to the Sirena blog. On October 27th we present the 2010.2 issue of Sirena here at Dickinson College. This issue is dedicated to the poet Manuel Alcántara. In addition to an ample selection of his work, we include essays by Juvenal Soto, Teodoro León Gross, and Francisco Ruiz Noguera. The issue also features poetry by Ángel Escobar, Ana Merino, and Félix María de Samaniego.
