Little Lake City Schools are seeking $908,000.00 from the Little Lake City School District to fund the Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS), designed to reduce posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and anxiety among children with symptoms of PTSD. California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) reveals that nearly 36% of California students have reported yes when being asked about chronic sadness, 16% when asked about suicide, and 31% when asked about experiencing social/emotional distress. This program aims to teach students 11 to 14 cognative behavioral techniques to help combate negative thoughts, reducing avoidance, developing a trauma narrative, building social problem solving skills, and relaxation.
