This class is a key component of the program and marks its beginning. During this stage, while students live in Chacras de Coria, we have daily classes and take educational trips that allow us to experience first-hand what we study. We visit Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile.<\/p>\n

The course is organized around central themes such as the history of immigration and the cultural, social, and historical patterns that shape the Southern Cone. In Buenos Aires, we visit the Immigration Hotel, La Boca and Caminito, the Teatro Col\u00f3n, the Casa Rosada Museum, and the Japanese Garden. In Uruguay, we travel to Colonia del Sacramento and work with texts by Eduardo Galeano, a contemporary Uruguayan writer who helps us reflect on plural societies. In Chile, we explore Santiago, Vi\u00f1a del Mar, and Valpara\u00edso, learning about the history of these cities and their most significant sites, including the houses of Pablo Neruda, an author we also read and analyze in class.<\/p>\n
