An\u0101layo<br \/>\nCenter for Buddhist Studies, University of Hamburg<br \/>\nDharma Drum Buddhist College, Taiwan<\/p>\n<p>The present article provides an annotated translation of the <em>Sa\u1e43yukta-\u0101gama<\/em> parallel to the <em>Nandakov\u0101da-sutta<\/em> of the <em>Majjhima-nik\u0101ya<\/em>, followed by a discussion of differences between these two versions that are relevant for an assessment of the attitude towards nuns in early Buddhist discourse.
