Pandita (Burma)<br \/>\nUniversity of Kelaniya<\/p>\n<p>Von Hin\u00fcber claims in his recent article, \u201cEarly Scripture Commentary,\u201d which is included in <em>Brill\u2019s Encyclopedia of Buddhism<\/em>, that: (1) Buddhaghosa is the author of the commentaries on four <em>nik\u0101yas<\/em>, but (2) not of other commentaries traditionally attributed to him. I agree with (1) but not with (2). On the contrary, I believe it is highly probable that the <em>Vinaya<\/em> and <em>Abhidhamma<\/em> commentaries have come from Buddhaghosa.
