This website is devoted to providing patients and their loved ones with advice about these decisions, offered by Clinical Advisors<\/em>\u00a0whose unique perspectives derive from devoting\u00a0 <\/span>their professional lives to caring for patients with serious illness.<\/p>\n

About the author \u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

\"Hoefler2\"Jim Hoefler, PhD, is a professor of political science at Dickinson College\u00a0in\u00a0Carlisle, PA. He has written two books (DeathRight<\/a><\/em> and Managing Death<\/em><\/a>) and numerous articles on caring for patients with serious illness, and teaches interdisciplinary courses\u00a0on this subject at Dickinson College and at the Danish Institute for Study Abroad in Copenhagen, DK. Jim has served on the Biomedical Ethics Committee of the Carlisle Regional Medical Center<\/a> since 1993 and has been a board member at the Partnership for Better Health<\/a> in Carlisle since 2009.<\/p>\n
