As a result, it has become the focus of the college&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dickinson.edu\/cnExtra\/detail.cfm?384\">High &#8220;I&#8221; Project<\/a> for redevelopment.  Currently, the street is home to a wide variety of small businesses and social services, including the Clothes Vine, Appalachian Foods, Casa Mani, the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/carlislehistory\/?page_id=203\">Whistlestop Bookshop<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/carlislehistory\/?page_id=240\">Back Door Cafe<\/a>, Amy&#8217;s Thai, and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/carlislehistory\/?page_id=257\">George&#8217;s Subs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>High Street used to be called Main Street &#8230; Here&#8217;s a postcard of Carlisle&#8217;s Main Street, circa 1907:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/carlislehistory\/files\/1907_mainstreet_ebay.JPG\" title=\"Main Street, 1907.\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/carlislehistory\/files\/1907_mainstreet_ebay.JPG\" alt=\"Main Street, 1907.\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Main Street, 1907. Citation: The Greater Carlisle Area: The Heart of Cumberland County (Carlisle, PA: The Chamber of Commerce, 1972).<\/p>\n<p>Today, 16 West High Street is Carlisle&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ccpa.net\/cumberland\/cwp\/view.asp?a=1135&amp;q=452497\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Human Services Building<\/a>.
