{"id":852,"date":"2009-10-05T16:16:28","date_gmt":"2009-10-05T20:16:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/copenhagen\/?p=852"},"modified":"2009-10-05T16:16:28","modified_gmt":"2009-10-05T20:16:28","slug":"come-together-right-now-over-climate-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/copenhagen\/2009\/10\/come-together-right-now-over-climate-change\/","title":{"rendered":"Come Together, Right Now: Over Climate Change"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Educating people is one of the most effective ways of going about mitigating the effects of climate change.\u00a0 Is it happening fast enough?\u00a0 No.\u00a0 Is it feasible to educate the world\u2019s people about the hazardous effects that climate change can have on their lives within the time span we have until its \u201ctoo late\u201d?\u00a0 Surely not.\u00a0 Is it fair that the people who are least able to do something about it are going to get hit the hardest?\u00a0 Absolutely not.\u00a0 Would the world change fast enough even if every person in the world today was educated about climate change and exactly what they could do about it?\u00a0 Maybe, maybe not.<\/p>\n<p>However, these are the circumstances that we must face.\u00a0 Not as a city or a nation, but a <a title=\"WWF Climate Adaptation programs\" href=\"http:\/\/www.worldwildlife.org\/climate\/adaptationprograms.html\" target=\"_blank\">world<\/a>.\u00a0 Humans must help one another to make a better, less climate change threatened planet.\u00a0 Enough talk about who is to blame, what amount of money the government must spend to mitigate and adapt, or why climate change is questionable.\u00a0 None of those things matter.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/i.treehugger.com\/images\/2007\/5\/24\/design-can-change.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"468\" height=\"310\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We cannot think in terms of money or possessions, but rather in terms of human life and a potential for a future for our species.\u00a0 The U.S., like every other country around the world, will suffer losses in GDP and land area to a sizeable extent.\u00a0 But the developing world has much more to lose- human life (Mann &amp;
