{"id":73,"date":"2017-12-06T20:00:04","date_gmt":"2017-12-06T20:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/digitalhistory\/?p=73"},"modified":"2017-12-24T15:08:01","modified_gmt":"2017-12-24T15:08:01","slug":"1848-revolutions-marx-writings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/digitalhistory\/2017\/12\/06\/1848-revolutions-marx-writings\/","title":{"rendered":"1848 Revolutions and Marx&#8217;s Writings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Within this tumultuous and exciting time, revolutions raged throughout numerous countries, including Italy, Austria-Hungary, Germany, and more, and clearly caught the attention of Marx. Following the creation of the <em>Manifesto of the Communist Party<\/em>, Marx was ordered to leave Belgium, and settled once gain in Paris, France. There, he helped to form a new central body of the Communist League and established a German Workers\u2019 Club within the city. Both Marx and Engels became involved in the revolutions, either through their writings or by joining the cause. Both men arrived in Cologne to participate in the revolution there and immediately founded the daily newspaper <em>Neue Rheinische Zeitung<\/em> as a way to show their support of the workers\u2019 struggles and the national liberation movements throughout various other countries.
