Introduction:
Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) is arguably one of the most important and famous American poets of the 19th century. During her lifetime, she published a total of 10 poems. After death her poems were published against her wishes. Dickinson’s poems are known for their unique style, which differs greatly from the other poetry eras of her lifetime, Romantic and Victorian. One of her more famous poems, I felt a Funeral, in my Brain, highlights her unique style. This project serves to be introduction into Emily Dickinson’s work within the larger genre of poetry narratives. It explores how similar and different Dickinson’s poems are to famous Romantic and Victorian poets.
