{"id":115,"date":"2009-09-24T11:00:11","date_gmt":"2009-09-24T16:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/languages\/?p=115"},"modified":"2011-02-12T14:06:01","modified_gmt":"2011-02-12T19:06:01","slug":"twitter-trends-in-other-languages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/edtech\/2009\/09\/24\/twitter-trends-in-other-languages\/","title":{"rendered":"Twitter Trends in other Languages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is fun and found via <a href=\"http:\/\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mundaysa&#8217;s Twitter account. <\/a> For those not familiar with Twitter, it&#8217;s a microblogging service.\u00a0 Still doesn&#8217;t make the sense?\u00a0 Imagine text chatting the world.\u00a0 As it&#8217;s gained in popularity, it&#8217;s appeared in the regular news media quite frequently.\u00a0 One of the many uses people have found for Twitter is to search the &#8220;tweets&#8221; for keywords to find trends.\u00a0 As an example, one of the most famous trend\/keyword so far has been <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#search?q=%23iranelections\" target=\"_blank\">#IranElections<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/twirus.com\/\">Twirus<\/a> now provides a service that lets you search these trends based on language.\u00a0 So far, they only have the major western European langauges, but it&#8217;s a start.\u00a0 Do a search for Uni Bremen in German.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a nice snippet of daily life for our students.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is fun and found via Mundaysa&#8217;s Twitter account.
