\nUnder ‘Statistics’, run ‘Modularity’. OK and Close<\/p>\n
Left:
\nPartition tab, Nodes, click Refresh.
\nChoose ‘Modularity Class’ as parameter.
\nNow we have our communties.<\/p>\n
There’s a slider bar for Edge Weight at the bottom, the one towards the left. Slide it left until you can easily see nodes and edges.<\/p>\n
Ranking tab, Nodes, size (the diamond shape)
\nSelect ‘Degree’ and Apply
\nNodes are large based on number of connections (degrees)
\nNote where you can change Max size<\/p>\n
If you want to rank nodes by color
\nRanking tab, Nodes, color wheel
\nSelect Modularity Class and Apply<\/p>\n
Layout<\/p>\n
Choose Layout ‘Force Atlas’ and run.
\nRight click and hold to move around.
\nScroll to zoom in
\nChoose Layout ‘Expansion’ and run until you have some space<\/p>\n
Bottom
\nClick the first ‘T’ to show the labels
\nClick the ‘A’ for ‘Size mode’ and choose ‘Node size’. The larger the node, based on connection, larger font.
\nAdjust font size with the second slider to right.<\/p>\n
Middle
\nLeft click and drag individual nodes so you can see labels and no extreme outliers.<\/p>\n
Export
\nClick the Preview tab above
\nSelect \u2018Show labels\u2019 under \u2018Nodes\u2019
\nMake the font size just below to ‘5’
\n\u2018Refresh\u2019 at very bottom to see changes<\/p>\n
File -> Export -> SVG\/PDF\/PNG
\nChoose PNG. In Options specify a larger size, I used 1500 by 1500 for large image. <\/p>\n
Small: Large: Dickinson study abroad, Fall 2013 and Academic Year 2013-2014 Nodes are either majors or locations. Edges are created by each major going to a destination.
