The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science is pleased to announce up to three graduate fellowships to support incoming Ph.D. students starting fall semester, 2015. The Presidential Fellowships are merit-based and designed to support recruitment of outstanding students into the UMCES graduate programs. UMCES is Maryland’s premier research institution aimed at advancing scientific knowledge of the environment. UMCES scientists conduct research at four laboratories: the Appalachian Laboratory in the mountains of western Maryland, the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory on the western shore of Chesapeake Bay, the Horn Point Laboratory on the Eastern Shore, and the Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology in Baltimore.

UMCES faculty members advise and support more than 80 graduate students annually through three collaborative Ph.D. programs: Marine Estuarine Environmental Sciences, Environmental Toxicology, and the Graduate Program in Life Sciences.

The next Presidential Fellowship application cycle will begin on 1 September 2014 and close on 1 December 2014.
