Description: PennFuture, a statewide environmental advocacy organization, seeks two qualified applicants from the Harrisburg and Philadelphia areas to serve as Donor Relations Interns within our Development department. One position is located in Harrisburg and the other in Philadelphia. The internship position will provide the individual with substantial experience in nonprofit development and management, events planning, research into donor prospects, and solicitation strategies in addition to gaining valuable experience working specifically for an environmental non-profit.

Primary Duties:

  • Help with editing proposals and reports
  • Assistance with writing minor proposals, reports and donor communications
  • Table at awareness and fundraising events
  • Pre-event preparation
  • Collaboration in event organization
  • Provide support for mailings and invitations
  • General research and data collection surrounding donor interests
  • Help in maintaining database records

Each internship position will also have its share of clerical work including envelope stuffing and administrative duties such as file cleaning and data entry.

Requirements and qualifications: Applicant(s) should be a current undergraduate student or recent graduate, with an interest in fundraising for an environmental advocacy non-profit.

  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office) and ability to learn new programs quickly (databases, etc.)
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Strong organizational abilities
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (fax, photocopier, etc.)
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks
  • Interest in a nonprofit career, ideally in development and fundraising

Compensation: The Donor Relations Outreach Internship is unpaid. We encourage you to use this internship to gain course credit and to look into work study grants within your college or university if that is an option.

Time Commitment: Each position requires a commitment of 15-25 hours per week (flexible), sometime between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday for three months in either our Harrisburg or Philadelphia office. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.

Location: PennFuture’s Donor Relations department has locations in both Center City Philadelphia and in Harrisburg.
