Industry Efficiency Program Internship – Paid

Position Description

The intern will conduct a literature search and participate in research on utility sector efficiency programs that mine big data, use information & communications technology (ICT) and/or data analytics to measure and evaluate energy efficiency measures. The research project will examine the potential of ICT to automate the reporting of energy savings and associated carbon reductions. This work may also involve interviewing representatives of efficiency programs and the firms that evaluate them. The final product of the research project will be an ACEEE research report that will be released to the ICT, energy efficiency and utility sectors. The intern will be listed as a contributing author on this report.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Literature search of efficiency program websites, conference proceedings, and news article
  2. Organization of information collected and development of bibliography
  3. Identification of and interviewing of people currently involved in the use of ICT in energy efficiency programs

Skills/Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, preferably working towards an advanced degree in a relevant academic area.
  2. Interest in and familiarity with a range of energy efficiency policies and/or local level sustainability policies strongly preferred. Familiarity with energy-efficient technologies preferred, but not required.
  3. Strong internet and interview-based research ability.
  4. Strong writing and oral communication skills required.
  5. Self-motivation and ability to manage multiple assignments (as needed), work efficiently, and meet deadlines.

Timing

This is a 12 week internship starting in June 2015. The project will require a time commitment of 16 – 24 hours/week.
