The 2015 Watershed Congress to be held March 14, 2015, is just about eight weeks away. This year’s program offers an empowering keynote, information packed breakout sessions, one-on-one poster discussions and more. You can read more about this year’s program at bit.ly/2015WC_Program.
The Watershed Congress Organizing Committee encourages current graduate and undergraduate students to take an active role in one of two ways: 1) as poster presenters or 2) as a session facilitators. For both of these roles, registration fees are comped.
1) Poster presenters
We will continue to consider accepting poster presenters for the 2015 Watershed Congress as space allows, so do encourage students you know to consider presenting a poster. At the Watershed Congress, posters sessions offer a one-on-one format for presenting information. The Watershed Congress encourages presentation of posters by student presenters as they offer a low-key opportunity for students to gain experience and build confidence with public speaking. The Watershed Congress organizing committee has flexibility to add poster presenters as long as room to do so remains available.
Students interested in offering a poster should contact me directly for guidance.
2) Session Facilitator Scholarships
The Watershed Congress offers Session Facilitator scholarships to introduce students to watershed issues and encourage them to become future presenters. Current undergraduate and graduate students are eligible. Student facilitators will have responsibilities during the Congress program including making announcements, getting sessions started on time, time keeping, trouble shooting, etc. (student facilitators are not responsible for IT).
Those interested in becoming student facilitators for the 2015 Watershed Congress can apply online at bit.ly/2015WC_Facilitators. The application deadline for Student Facilitator Scholarships is Friday, February 13th, 2015.
Lastly, for the 2015 Watershed Congress, we will be offering a student rate of $35. However, student registration must be completed offline as students are required to submit proof of student status by mailing a copy of dated student ID and an official picture ID along with their payment.
Contact thorpee@dickinson.edu if you are interested in attending.
