Position Description:
Citizens for Pennsylvania’s Future (PennFuture) is seeking a full-time director of outreach. The director of outreach manages PennFuture’s issue campaigns, organizes coalition efforts, and maintains relationships with policymakers, members of the organization, and the public. The director of outreach leads PennFuture’s engagement efforts with an emphasis on natural gas, air, water, and clean energy-related policies. The director will work with a team of professionals including attorneys, other outreach staff, and media professionals. This is a demanding, fast-paced position in a dynamic and highly effective organization.

Job Duties:
- Coordinates PennFuture’s issue campaigns; organizes coalition efforts; communicates with community groups and individual members; and manages PennFuture constituent relations.
- Supervises regional outreach staff including campaign plan implementation.
- Recruits, organizes and coordinates volunteers and interns.
- Writes compelling advocacy copy, online petitions and other digital communications.
- Works closely with communications director to develop and enhance social media and blog presence.
- Participates in meetings with elected officials on core policy initiatives, developing written and oral testimony for state and local agencies and governing bodies at public hearings and meetings and communicating with the media.
- Assists in grants management as needed including deliverables and grant reporting.
- Coordinates requests for assistance on PennFuture’s issue campaigns, policy positions and on potential legal issues.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in political and/or environmental organizing
- Strong knowledge of Pennsylvania political landscape and proven ability to network and communicate effectively with policymakers
- Strong writing skills
- Proven campaign management experience
- Experienced in using social media
- Excellent organizational skills
- Familiarity with online advocacy tools
- Experience with Blackbaud strongly preferred
- An understanding of environmental issues and their potential to engage the public
Location, Compensation:
- The position will be based in Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, or Wilkes-Barre.
