Internship Opportunities
Currently, TLC has several internship opportunities available. Gain work experience, college credit, and an educational experience while you help us to conserve land, blaze trails, save historic sites, and host events and programs. Internships for course credits and specific paid opportunities are available; most internships are unpaid. We are in need of interns in the following areas:
Graphic Design Intern
TLC is seeking a savvy individual with graphic design experience to assist in creating outreach materials. The Graphic Design Intern will design graphic materials for promotion of TLC’s membership campaign, create promotional materials for events and programs, work on website design, and conduct other creative tasks that may arise. Candidates should be well-versed in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office, have great attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as with a team, and have a passion and desire to promote TLC’s mission through outreach and communications.

Seasonal Land Stewardship Intern–Trail Blazer
TLC owns and manages 4 nature preserves and over 500 acres of natural open space in the Kennett Square area. The nature of this internship is to create a field course experience that helps to foster interest and experience in the field of ecologically sensitive land management. Practical and theoretical experience will be gained.
The tasks of this position include improving wildlife diversity, riparian buffer maintenance, invasive species control, public trail access, as well as management of park land infrastructure. Must be reliable, have a willingness to work outdoors, the ability to work independently and with a team, and be able to follow verbal directions. Must have reliable transportation.
Number of Interns Needed: 4 – 6
Time Commitment: Seasonal internships usually start during end of May / beginning of June and last through the end of August with weekly hours scheduled Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9-3 (weather permitting). Additional hours may be allotted to accommodate college internship requirements. Community Service hours available as well.
Duties:
§  Maintain existing tree plantings and cages
§  Water and re-pot young trees in nursery
§  Planting of trees and shrubs in preserves
§  Construct and maintain installations and infrastructure at TLC preserves including: bridges, boardwalks, benches, stairs, signage, pavilions, parking areas, kiosks, gates, fences, nesting boxes, and equipment depot
§  Removal of invasive plants and noxious weeds
§  Maintain the period style landscaping around the historic Marshall Millhouse
§  Create and blaze trails as needed
§  Clearing of brush and tree blow downs as needed
§  Assist in additional projects deemed appropriate by TLC

Education Intern
TLC hosts a year-round schedule of environmental education programs for people of all ages. The ideal candidate for this internship has his or her own transportation, has experience using Microsoft Publisher, is motivated and enthusiastic about environmental education, and is comfortable working outside.
Intern will assist Education Outreach Coordinator in the following duties:
§  Posting educational program flyer to community bulletins, sending to newspaper calendars and to posting to online venues on a weekly basis.
§  Create curriculum for environmental outreach programs
§  Assist at education programs, fairs, festivals and other outreach events when available.

Events/Sponsorship Intern
TLC hosts and participates in many events throughout the year, including our Stateline Loop 10k/5k Trail Race for Conservation, Hootenanny Hoedown, Dog Days of Summer, and Wild and Scenic Film Festival. The Events Intern will assist with in-office coordination and promotion of events, as well as helping out during the events when available. Duties will include:
§  Assistance with promotion of events and sponsors through social media, TLC’s website, and online calendars
§  Creating marketing materials, decorations, and marketing for silent auction items.
§  Entering, organizing, and alphabetizing event RSVP/Participation lists
§  Assisting during events, in areas such as setup, registration, photography, assisting at TLC’s outreach table, and other varied tasks that may arise.
