Handshake
Handshake is a job pooling resource where you can perform a variety of searches by employer, internships, even internship types. In Handshake, students have access to DickinsonConnect and the Liberal Arts Carreer Network (LACN). DickinsonConnect flags jobs posted by Dickinson alumni to connect to employers who already know the skill set you obtained from your education, and LACN flags job opportunities at other liberal arts institutions. This is a great way to find jobs that match your interests! To access DickinsonConnect, log into Gateway, click on the “Student Resources” tab, and then click on the “DickinsonConnect” link.

LinkedIn.com – The world’s largest professional network on the internet. Particular focus on the ‘Find Alumni’ search tools, which can be accessed on linkedin.com/alumni.

MANO Project – The Hispanics Access Foundation’s MANO Project seeks to connect members of the Latino Community to job and internship opportunities to “trustworthy, socially responsible partners.”

NOAA Student Opportunities Database – A BRAND NEW platform published by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to search for scholarships, fellowships, REUs, and internships across the across the agency. Filter by type of opportunity, application period, audience, and whether it’s virtual or in-person.

Non-profit Jobs/Internships Search Engine: Collection of web resources to assist you in locating a non-profit internship and/or job in your area of interest.

Ecojob.com: Employers in environmental and conservation fields use this site to advertise vacancies and recruit qualified professionals in a range of environmental sectors. Use this site to find environmental career opportunities!

Sustainability Career/Job Resources list: Spreadsheet containing organizations, descriptions, and URLs for over 80 careers/jobs in sustainability.

Sciences and Environmental Jobs/Internships Search Engine: A collection of web resources to assist you in locating an internship and/or job relating to science and environment. Web links are headed under general, biology, chemistry, environmental science/geology, physics, pharmaceutical research, marine sciences, and stem research.

Social and Human Services Jobs/Internships Search Engine: A collection of web resources to assist you in locating an internship and/or job relating to social and human services. Web links are headed under psychology-specific and social/human service.

Michaux State Forest LinkTree: LinkTree containing available jobs in the Michaux State Forest.

Organizations To Apply To:

Professional associations can be a great way to keep up with current trends in the field, identify organizations (and people) of interest, learn about internship and job opportunities, and network with professionals.  As a student, you may be able to access resources, directories, even events for free or at a very steep discount.  Do some key word searches with ‘professional associations [area of interest]’.

National Science Foundation (NSF) – Search for NSF Funded Research for Undergraduates (REU) programs! Search by topic area such as biological sciences, ocean sciences, and more or you can scroll to the bottom of the linked page and search by state or keyword (environmental science). If you plan to apply, please reach out to your academic advisor for more information and support.

Conservation, Wildlife Monitoring, Resource Management, Historical Preservation, and More:
The Student Conservation Association – Complete 1 application and apply to up 20 jobs or internships at a time! Great resource to apply to a lot of jobs in a short amount of time.

Building Relationships, Inclusivity, Diversity, Growth, and Excellence (BRIDGE) – World Wildlife Foundation’s diversity-focused summer internship program. BRIDGE aims to “increase exposure of students from underrepresented populations to careers in conservation and sustainability.”

Udall Undergraduate Scholarship – Competitive scholarship program for “future leaders in environmental, Tribal public policy, and health care fields”

Urban Planning:
American Planning Association : A non-profit organization used to advance the art and science of planning (physical, economic, and social) at the local, regional, state and national levels. Use this link to search for jobs related to APA’s mission.

International Urban Development Association: A global association composed of policy makers and practitioners aiming to share knowledge, experience, and tools for integrated territorial development with the goal of improving living conditions for all. This link will direct you to the home page where you can join the INTA network.

Planners Network: A network of professionals, activists, academics and students involved with planning in urban and rural areas, serving as a voice for social, economic, and environmental justice. This link will direct you to the home page where you can join the PN network.
