Environmental Justice and Reproductive Health Manager

Overview: RSP’s mission is to empower women and young adults of African descent who are disproportionately affected by diseases of the reproductive system. To articulate its vision, RSP mobilizes women to address deeply rooted racism and internalized racism, sexism, environmental/food injustice, and other social determinants of health that perpetuate silence and inaction surrounding these diseases.

About this position: This 30 hour per week position will expand RSP’s work on Black women’s reproductive health and the intersections with environmental justice. The Manager works in partnership with RSP staff to design programs, collect data, engage with the community, conduct outreach, represents the organization at key meetings and community events. This new position is ideal for an initiative-taking individual who is a self-starter and requires minimal supervision. This position reports to the Executive Director and the Director of Programs. Community Building, Collaboration, and Programming
•Serve as an organizational liaison to program participants, partners, and colleagues.
•Actively participate in coalitions and partnerships with academic institutions, research institutions, and organizations engaged in environmental justice work.
•Develop and host workshops, webinars, trainings and community meetings on reproductive health
and environmental justice.
•Conduct outreach to student groups on college campuses to bring attention to the reproductive health inequities and burdens Black women and girls face in conjunction with exposure to environmental toxins.
•Support community partners developing legislation limiting environmental toxins in cosmetics and
other environmental health issues.
Communications, Social Engagement, and Outreach
•Communicate RSP’s programmatic aims and objectives regarding the intersection of reproductive health and environmental toxins to participants, colleagues, and the public.
• Create and distribute educational materials regarding the impact of environmental toxins on
reproductive health.
• Share RSP’s environmental justice messaging across traditional and social media platforms.
• Increase the number of social media influencers who are sharing information on RSP’s work.
• Create video content regarding consumer products containing endocrine-disrupting chemicals that
are marketed to Black women and girls.
Community-Based Research and Knowledge Building
• Conduct community-based research within communities of color on environmental toxins and
reproductive health using surveys, focus groups and other forms of data collection in collaboration
with health and science research institutions.
• Create materials for distribution to the public on RSP’s environmental justice work.
• Stay updated on issues related to environmental justice, reproductive health, and chemicals of
concern.
Qualifications
• Commitment to RSP’s mission, including a deep understanding of reproductive justice.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or Environmental Science.
• Two years’ experience coordinating programs and providing educational workshops, presentations,
and training.
• Two years’ experience conducting community-based research within communities of color.
• Two years’ experience conducting both quantitative and qualitative research.
• Exceptional writing, editing, oral and proofreading skills.
• Proficient with social media tools and Microsoft office programs including Word, Excel and
PowerPoint, knowledge of Canva a plus.
• Desire to work as part of a team in a culturally diverse organization, including building relationships
across lines based on race, class, gender, sexual orientation, age, and ability.

•Demonstrated understanding of, and ability to communicate about, complex, or controversial issues, with accountability and deference to those most impacted by those issues.

•Ability to deliver quality products on tight deadlines

•Available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required
