The World Resources Institute (WRI) seeks an intern to support its internal sustainability efforts. The intern will provide communication support for the Sustainability Initiative as we expand our webpage and conduct internal and external engagement efforts. The intern will also help with research related to WRI’s GHG reduction projects, including but not limited to renewable energy purchasing, GHG accounting, and supply chain management. Through this position, the intern will make significant contributions to WRI’s internal sustainability work by writing blogs, preparing content for external sharing, coordinating webinars, and supporting reduction tasks.
The intern will gain experience in the following areas:
Communications (60%)
- Drafting and presenting an external communications approach for WRI’s internal sustainability efforts including social media presence.
- Developing/collecting and uploading content for WRI’s Sustainability webpage
- Drafting blogs and other communication documents
- Coordinating webinar sessions and possible on-site workshop
- Drafting and editing materials for external sharing
- Developing any presentation materials as needed
Research (40%)
- Contributing research to existing reduction projects including supply chain management and renewable energy purchasing
- Working towards or completed a Bachelor’s Degree, with a preference for someone working towards or with a completed Master’s Degree
- Passion or interest in sustainability and CSR
- Knowledge of social media platforms and web design
- Excellent writing skills
- Strong oral communications skills
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and with a small team
- Ability to work calmly and enthusiastically in a (sometimes) rapidly changing environment
- Ability to think creatively and out of the box to address problems
- Good sense of humor
- Extremely well organized and efficient
Final candidate will be required to take a writing test
Finalists will need to submit 2 writing samples or other examples of communications media

This is an unpaid internship with a monthly $500 stipend available.
