We adopt an expansive definition of sustainability based upon the <a href=\"https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Global <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sustainable Development Goals<\/a> that aims for social, economic, and environmental sustainability for all. As such, we believe equity is a core concept of sustainability and all our work, especially our programming, must be inclusive and embrace diversity.<\/p>\n<p>This Sustainability Programming Coordinator position will be responsible for the implementation of many of SI\u2019s existing signature public and campus programs, including, but not limited to:<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sustainability.psu.edu\/programs\/colloquium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><u>The Colloquium on the Environment<\/u><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/intersections.psu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><u>The <\/u><u>Intersections <\/u><u>film series<\/u><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sustainability.psu.edu\/programs\/showcase-series\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><u>The <\/u><u>Sustainability Showcase <\/u><u>workshops<\/u><\/a><\/li>\n<li>The Student Sustainability Summit<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sustainability.psu.edu\/programs\/2023cwcforums\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><u>The Commonwealth Campus Sustainability Forums<\/u><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>Duties will include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Collaborating with SI staff, interns, and partners on developing the goals, themes, and design of the programming;<\/li>\n<li>Recruiting and curating diverse speakers, films, and workshops;<\/li>\n<li>Managing contracts and University reporting procedures for payments and event\/speaker management;<\/li>\n<li>Arranging facility and travel details for programming; overseeing the logistics of event operations, including technical operations for hybrid and remote events;<\/li>\n<li>Managing event registration and attendance tracking;<\/li>\n<li>Representing the SI at public programming;<\/li>\n<li>Collecting and analyzing data about program impact;<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring compliance with all University guidelines and regulations for programming;<\/li>\n<li>Supervising an intern to help with programming; and<\/li>\n<li>Coordinating with SI communications staff and interns on programming promotions and marketing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Additionally, this position will be responsible for <b>developing and fostering relationships with campus and community partners<\/b> around programming initiatives and for <b>identifying new synergies around programming<\/b>. The person in this position will also have an opportunity to <b>develop new programming<\/b> that advances the Sustainability Institute\u2019s strategic goals and engages with our targeted audiences of Penn State students, faculty\/staff, alumni, and\/or the public.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Professional development opportunities and mentorship will be provided for this position to serve as a career springboard for those interested in fields in sustainability; educational programming; event management; communications; community engagement; and\/or higher education.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>This is a <b>limited term position, funded for one year from start date, with the potential to renew for an additional year<\/b>. The position is located at University Park with only occasional minimal travel to Commonwealth Campuses as needed. Occasional night and weekend hours will be required.<i> A flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work may be considered<\/i>.\u00a0 Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>Education and experience:<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Typically requires<b> a bachelor&#8217;s degree plus one year of related experience<\/b> (volunteer, intern, summer, and student group leadership can count towards experience), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
