The Youth Development Summer Intern will assist in organizing, presenting and\/or evaluating workshops in a number of settings including day camps, 4-H fair, Ag Ventures, and others as determined by the 4-H Coordinator. Audiences include diverse rural and urban youth between 8 and 18 years of age. The Intern will network\/collaborate with agencies and organization in the effort to provide hands on experiences. The educational materials will incorporate both Penn State 4-H and National 4-H curriculum materials. Successful candidates must be willing to work as a team member to deliver quality programs and be comfortable teaching and interacting with children in group settings. This position is for a high-energy, dependable, enthusiastic, self-starter who has leadership abilities and enjoys working with children. Requirements: Completion of a minimum of 1 year in a field of study related to elementary and\/or early childhood education, recreational planning, youth development, agriculture, or science. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: ability to effectively implement skills required for specialty in the areas of research, organization, implementation, and evaluation of programs; ability to effectively deal with the public, private business and industry, civic and volunteer groups; ability to work on own initiative in the dynamic field of education and in a deadline intense environment; ability to present ideas and recommendations clearly both orally and written; possess a strong ability to interact effectively and courteously with children, parents, co-workers, supervisors and the general public. Candidates must have a valid driver\u2019s license and use of a private automobile to travel throughout Dauphin County to 4-H clubs and events. This is a $9.00 per hour wage payroll position with Penn State Cooperative Extension in Dauphin County.
