\n*Job Description: The Chesapeake Bay Foundation seeks a PA GIS Intern to be based at their PA State Office located in Harrisburg. This is a full time unpaid Internship for the Summer of 2015.<\/p>\n
THE CHESAPEAKE BAY FOUNDATION<\/p>\n
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) is the largest regional non-profit conservation organization working solely to save the Bay. Established in 1967, CBF has a staff of approximately 185 employees working in offices in Annapolis Maryland; Richmond and VA Beach, Virginia; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and Washington, D.C., and in 15 field education program locations. Our staff and volunteer corps work throughout the region educating students and adults, advocating for clean water polices, restoring waterways, and litigating when necessary.<\/p>\n
CBF’s headquarters office in Annapolis, MD is the Philip Merrill Environmental Center, the world\u2019s first U.S. Green Build Council\u2019s LEED platinum building. In 2014, CBF opened The Brock Environmental Center in Virginia Beach, VA. The Brock Center is one of the most energy efficient, environmentally smart buildings in the world.<\/p>\n

CONTEXT OF THE POSITION<\/p>\n
The PA GIS Intern will focus on regional clean water outreach initiatives in South Central Pennsylvania by working with, shadowing and learning from the CBF PA Staff on effectively, creatively and independently working with ArcGIS software, updating and maintaining ArcGIS databases and creating maps utilizing ArcGIS software.<\/p>\n
Essential Functions include:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Updating and maintaining ArcGIS databases
\n\u2022 Creating, updating, and maintaining maps relating too, but not limited to PA water and land resources, political boundaries, CBF restoration activities, NPDES permits\/discharges
\n\u2022 Assist in the development of geospatial information for handbooks, fact sheets, videos, and other materials for printed, electronic, and online use
\n\u2022 Volunteering their time representing CBF at festivals, fairs and events.
\n\u2022 Assist in the development and population of PA Outreach-related databases pertaining to CBF membership, local groups of relevance (e.g., master gardeners, EACs, watershed groups, Trout Unlimited chapters), and pertinent fairs\/festivals.
\n\u2022 Ability to think creatively and critically
\n\u2022 Ability to work collaboratively and independently
\nQualifications: CBF is looking for an intern with excellent GIS skills and experience. Candidates with environmental science, planning, and geography courses will be preferred. Personal transportation is required.<\/p>\n
