The appointment will be served with the Office of Science and Technology (OST) in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The intern will join an OW team involved with a range of technical, policy and program support activities to assess how OW programs and policies can better foster consideration and integration of sustainability principles into its programs. Under the guidance of the mentor, s\/he may be involved in:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">attending meetings and conferences regarding water sustainability<br \/>\ncreating connections for further integration of sustainability principles<br \/>\nimplementing sustainability initiatives through research and policy priorities<br \/>\nwriting blogs on sustainability across the nation<br \/>\ndeveloping metrics and performance measures to assess progress<br \/>\ntracking EPA progress to implement sustainability goals<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Through this project, the intern will develop a sound understanding of water resources management, including the critical challenges facing the U.S. and world, and gain an understanding of sustainability initiatives that are currently being implemented and are on the horizon to solve water resource issues. S\/he will be exposed to regulatory, policy, technical, and research experiences related to Water Sustainability.<br \/>\nQualifications:<br \/>\nApplicants must have received a master\u2019s degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, environmental public policy or a related field within five years of the desired starting date, or completion of all requirements for the degree should be expected prior to the starting date.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">U.S. Citizenship required. The program is open to all qualified individuals without regard to race, sex, religion, color, age, physical or mental disability, national origin, or status as a Vietnam era or disabled veteran.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The appointment will initially be for one year and may be renewed up to three additional years upon EPA recommendation and subject to availability of funding. The participant will receive an annual stipend up to $52,668. No funding will be made available to cover travel costs for pre-appointment visits, relocation costs, tuition and fees, or a participant\u2019s health insurance. The participant must show proof of health and medical insurance.
