{"id":554,"date":"2016-12-05T14:47:59","date_gmt":"2016-12-05T19:47:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/enstopportunities\/?p=554"},"modified":"2016-12-05T14:47:59","modified_gmt":"2016-12-05T19:47:59","slug":"renewable-energy-graduate-research-fellowships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/enstopportunities\/2016\/12\/05\/renewable-energy-graduate-research-fellowships\/","title":{"rendered":"Renewable Energy Graduate Research Fellowships!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoTitle\">Renewable Energy Graduate Research Fellowships<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoSubtitle\">Fall 2017<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoSubtitle\">College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\" align=\"center\">University of Delaware, USA<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\" align=\"center\">\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The University of Delaware (UD) and the Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation (DEMEC) have established a graduate research fellowship in renewable energy research as part of the purchase and sale of renewable energy credits (RECs) generated by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ceoe.udel.edu\/Lewesturbine\" target=\"_blank\">UD\u2019s 2MW wind turbine<\/a>that is located adjacent to the College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment\u2019s (CEOE) Lewes, Delaware campus.\u00a0 The focus of the fellowship is <b><i>wind energy<\/i><\/b> and the <b><i>storage<\/i><\/b> of intermittent renewables. Separately, the Magers Family has established a Wind Energy graduate fellowship in CEOE\u2019s School of Marine Science and Policy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Fellows will be advised, as appropriate, by a faculty member whose principal appointment is in <b>Marine Policy (MP)<\/b>, <b>Physical Ocean Science and Engineering (POSE)<\/b>, <b>Geography<\/b> or <b>Geological Sciences<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><strong> We are particularly interested in fellows who are interested in socio-economic\/cultural dimensions of wind energy, grid integration; marine logistics; environmental risk assessment; spatial planning; wind meteorology, resource assessment and wind turbine wakes; geological and geotechnical aspects of wind projects; and cost of energy, including social costs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Each fellow is required to be admitted to the master\u2019s or PhD program in MP, POSE, Geological Sciences or Geography.\u00a0\u00a0 <u>You must apply and be accepted a graduate student to be eligible for either research fellowship<\/u>.\u00a0 We also offer an<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ceoe.udel.edu\/research\/affiliated-programs\/wind-power-program\/education\/wind-power-certificate\" target=\"_blank\">Interdisciplinary Graduate Certificate in Wind Power Science, Engineering and Policy<\/a>, so successful applicants will have the option of obtaining that specialist certificate in addition to a graduate degree.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ceoe.udel.edu\/research\/affiliated-programs\/wind-power-program\" target=\"_blank\">UD\u2019s Wind Power Program<\/a> is part of the larger <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ceoe.udel.edu\/research\/research-centers\/the-center-for-carbon-free-power-integration\" target=\"_blank\">Center for Carbon-free Power Integration (CCPI)<\/a>, which is managed by faculty in three colleges (CEOE, Business and Economics, and Engineering), and which also focuses on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.udel.edu\/V2G\" target=\"_blank\">grid-integrated electric vehicles<\/a>. In addition, we have an exchange program with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">As the leading academic program in offshore wind energy in the Americas, we prepare <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ceoe.udel.edu\/research\/affiliated-programs\/wind-power-program\/students\" target=\"_blank\">students<\/a> for successful careers in government, nongovernmental organizations, research institutions, and the private sector.\u00a0 Interested prospective graduate students should visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ceoe.udel.edu\/academics\/for-prospective-graduate-students\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>When applying, please note in your personal statement your interest in one or both of the fellowships.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Fellowships include a <b>tuition waiver for the Fall and Spring semesters<\/b> and a stipend. Twelve-month stipends are approximately <b>$26,000<\/b> for Ph.D. students and slightly less for Master\u2019s students.
