Graduate assistantships\/fellowships are available for self-motivated<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n students to conduct innovative and high-impact research at the Center for<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n Systems Integration and Sustainability (CSIS) at Michigan State University.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n Research topics may include coupled human and natural systems, telecoupling<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n (socioeconomic and environmental interactions over distances,\u00a0 through means<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n such as globalization, human and animal migration, species dispersal,<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n species invasion, disease spread, sound\/noise transmission, spread of<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n pollutants and wastes, trade of goods and products, flows of ecosystem<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n services, environmental and hydrological flows, foreign investment,<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n technology transfer, water transfer, and tourism,<\/span><\/span><\/span>

\n sustainability science, biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services, human<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n well-being, land change science, forest and landscape ecology, global<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n change, systems integration (integration of ecology with demography,<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n economics, sociology, technology, and policy; integration of land, water,<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n and\/or energy),\u00a0 ecology and management of wildlife (e.g., giant pandas in<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n China), and systems modeling and simulation (e.g., agent-based modeling).<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n Papers on these topics by CSIS faculty and students have been published in<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n journals such as Science, Nature, and PNAS (see<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>http:\/\/csis.msu.edu\/research\/publications<\/span><\/span><\/a>).<\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>
\n With flexible start dates, successful candidates can build on these previous<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n studies and\/or explore new frontiers of research. They will also have<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n opportunities to interact with leaders and peers in these fields worldwide<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n through various ways, such as the International Network of Research on<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n Coupled Human and Natural Systems (CHANS-Net.org) and the NASA-MSU<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n Professional Enhancement Awards Program<\/span><\/span><\/span>

\n representative publications if any. Unofficial copies of GRE, TOEFL and<\/span><\/span><\/span>
