Information on fees, registration deadlines, and all Dickinson summer classes can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dickinson.edu\/homepage\/1257\/summer_classes\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SUST 200: Renewable Energy Field Course\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/farm\/files\/2019\/03\/IMG_1791-400x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This course will cover the rationale, science, and practical implementation of renewable energy technologies available for use in residential, business, and developing world applications, including solar electric, solar thermal, biogas, biodiesel, wind, and microhydro systems.\u00a0Curriculum will include readings,\u00a0lectures,\u00a0and exams combined with field trips and hands-on labs focused on\u00a0designing, developing, and testing small scale renewable\u00a0energy projects.<\/p>\n<p>This class will take place on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 1:30pm to 4:30pm.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>SUST 200: Food Systems Exploration: Introduction to Sustainable Agriculture<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/farm\/files\/2019\/03\/IMG_0866-e1553090195124-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This course aims to provide students with a full-spectrum experience in what it means to be a farmer and consumer in the 21st century. Students will explore the theories and practices of sustainable food production plus learn about the\u00a0issues facing farmers and consumers, from field to farmers&#8217; market. The curriculum\u00a0will include readings, lectures,\u00a0and exams along with\u00a0hands-on experience\u00a0in food production, field-based research labs, and field trips.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Classes will run Monday through Friday from 9:30am to 11:30am.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This summer, the College Farm will host two summer courses, open to current Dickinson students, alumni, and non-Dickinson students!
