Elizabeth Poulin

I’m from Maine and enjoy the outdoors.  I am a math major and completing the food studies certificate.  I don’t have a solid career path or direction yet, but I am hoping to start somewhere in data analytics.  Ideally, I would like to analyze data for either some agricultural or food operation.  I am very interested in analyzing data for different food policies, potentially a policy analyst.  I’m not sure where I’ll end up, but hopefully I’ll fall into ones of these paths.

Paige Baisley

I am an Environmental Science major with a specific interest in agriculture. I am most interested in improving the sustainability of diversified vegetable farming systems and understanding the connection between farmers and consumers. I have worked on the Dickinson College Farm for two years and have also had the opportunity to conduct agriculture focused research. I am looking forward to connecting these experiences and my academic food studies experiences as I wrap up my Food Studies Certificate.

Tom Riordan

Hello all, I am Tom Riordan ’20, an Environmental Studies and Political Science double major. I am looking forward to capping off my Food Studies Certificate this semester, and the class overall. My main food interests rest in urban food systems and how they will most likely be changing as the world’s population continues to increase and shift to urban centers. I have spent part of my last two summers working with a sustainable development company helping to establish urban garden programs and understand food insecurity in our nation’s capital. I also grew up on a small farm in South Carolina, which shaped my experiences surrounding food production and developed an appreciation for access to fresh produce.

Kristen Kozar

Hi my name is Kristen and I’m from Pittsburgh, PA. I am a Political Science and Spanish double major, Latin American, Latino and Caribbean Studies minor and am pursuing the Food Studies Certificate. I am primarily interested in issues relating to food justice including federal benefits, food insecurity, migrant farmworker/ H2A visa system, affordable housing, etc. I have conducted research at Dickinson on food access and federal food benefits, interned at Project SHARE for three years and served as an interpreter for migrant farm workers during the fall of 2018.

Adam Fine
