Hughes was born in Missouri and spent time during his childhood in Lincoln, Illinois and in Cleveland, Ohio.\u00a0 He traveled the world after high school, studying and holding various jobs.\u00a0 He published his first volume of poetry,\u00a0<em>The Weary Blues<\/em>, in 1926 before he had even graduated from college.\u00a0 This poem, \u201cI, Too,\u201d appeared in that volume from publisher, Alfred A.
