Fun Facts: Rather unusual for wading bird species, the female Red (Grey) Phalarope is larger than the male. Additionally, the same bird species is referred to interchangeably as the Red Phalarope or the Grey Phalarope.

Fun Fact: The female Baird’s Sandpiper lays a clutch of eggs that is up to 120% of her body mass in four days, shortly after arriving in the Arctic, with essentially no stored fat.
