If you’re a prospective student, we hope to welcome you to campus! The Milton B. Asbell Center for Jewish Life<\/a> is directly next to the Waidner Admissions House<\/a>, so make sure to stop by and say hello. If you want to schedule a tour of the Asbell Center ahead of time or would like to have lunch with a student, make sure to email jewishlife@dickinson.edu<\/a>. For specific questions, you’re also welcome to email hillel@dickinson.edu<\/a>. If you’re visiting on a Friday, you’re welcome to stay for Shabbat<\/a>. We look forward to meeting you!<\/p>\n

How many Jewish students attend Dickinson?<\/strong>
\nAbout 8-10% of the student body identifies as Jewish.<\/p>\n

Is there kosher dining on campus?<\/strong>
\nWe have a kosher\/vegan entree line, called the KOVE<\/a>, in our main dining hall. It is under the supervision of Rabbi Marley Weiner, Executive Director of the Asbell Center for Jewish Life.<\/p>\n

Are there local synagogues?<\/strong>
\nYes. Congregation Beth Tikvah<\/a> is located in Carlisle and uses the Asbell Center. There are also a number of synagogues in Harrisburg<\/a>, only 30 minutes away.<\/p>\n

Are there resources for Jewish first-years?<\/strong>

Do you do High Holiday services, have a Passover seder, or build a sukkah?<\/strong>
\nYes to all! We partner with the Asbell Center for many of these. More info can be found on the Experience Hillel<\/a> and Holidays<\/a> pages, as well as on the Asbell website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Is there Greek life on campus? Are there Jewish Greek organizations?<\/strong>
\nDickinson does have some Greek life organizations, but there are no Jewish Greek organizations. While they’re in no way the same thing, we do have Achim (a club for men)<\/a> and Rosh Chodesh (a club for women)<\/a> at the Asbell Center.<\/p>\n

Is Hebrew or Judaic Studies offered at Dickinson?<\/strong>
\nYes to both! Learn more about the Judaic Studies department here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Does Dickinson have study abroad programs in Israel?<\/strong>
\nYes! Dickinson has study abroad partner programs<\/a> with Ben-Gurion University, Hebrew University, and the Arava Institute. Learn more here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
